For a relaxed dining experience, try our Ball and Thistle Pub. It offers a full menu as well as a wide variety of beer, wine and spirits. Stop in during your round of golf or join us after work to catch the latest updates from the world of sports on our big-screen TV.

The Ball and Thistle Pub is open for lunch daily from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. Dinner is served Sunday through Saturday from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Enjoy patio dining, or cozy up to the fireplace, weather permitting.

'Venting greens 2 weeks ago, no disruption to play'  

Please stop raining...PLEASE!  Wyncote had a month without rain leading into this past stretch of weather, where the rain has totaled over 18 inches in two weeks.  My last newsletter article was about managing oxygen in the root zone when the weather is hot and dry, well, I'm going to bore you again.  Because of the inundation of water, all the pore spaces in the soil where oxygen once was is now filled with water. Roots are literally drowning.  When golfers ask why we aerify, this is why.  All those aerification holes done in the winter are the only pore spaces with oxygen still available to the plant, and the only thing keeping the grass alive.  We will continue to vent greens with very, VERY tiny, unnoticeable spikes like we always do to help oxygen into the system.  Even after all this rain the greens are playing great.  There are some areas where there is standing water on fairways and rough that will bounce back with drier weather.  Here at Wyncote our conditions stay great even in these extreme weather stretches because of a combination of diligence in our agronomics and the good fortune of having good drainage and great air movement native to the property.
